Grande Canyon de Verdun

The Grande Canyon de Verdun is a magical gorge in the Haut Alpes. It does not have the size of America’s Grand Canyon, but has a variety of terrains and moods.

There is a path that stretches along the bottom from near the top through tunnels, up and down steep steps and finally climbs slowly to a point half way along. Take a torch.

The Canyon is in Provence (France), to the east of Gap and Sisterone – a drive of about 2.5-3 hours north east from Marseille.
