Mile End Road, 1979: Stalls and shops

Mile End Road is broad, stretching almost straight from the edge of the City of London to the East. Mostly it is just buildings and occasional trees, but in spots there were good photo opportunities.

Early 1979 was marked by strikes from the dustmen that left great piles of rubbish on the streets. These were the last days before the James Callaghan labour before Margaret Thatcher rose to power.

These are the remaining pictures from my time in East London, 1979.
