Chapelle St. Victoire – pictures

Monte St Victoire dominates the landscape to the west of Aix-en-Provence. From the distance a huge cross can be seen near its summit. Hidden behind huge rocks slabs there is a small priory (or abbey) dating back to the 11th century. A stone archway leads to a protected area with chapel, basic shared living accomodation and a water well. Services are still taken in the chapel.
